About Kim von Arx

A profile picture of Kim von Arx

Kim was born in Basel, Switzerland, and did her art studies at The Art Institute of Chicago. After many years in southern Europe, the Middle East and USA, she moved to Oslo, Norway in 1994. Since then she has been engaged in a number of local and international exhibitions and art projects.

Kim has, amongst other things, worked with sound and visual tools since her student days, when her selected subjects were a combination of art history, drawing, painting and TV production, spiced up with sound synthesis, sampling, editing and more. Some years back, she was a partner in a company producing personal audio books. It felt rewarding enabling people to tell their stories and document important parts of their lives. “It was extremely interesting. Imagine being able to offer that time and space, normally lacking for such personal things; digging into the highlights of their lives in order to share them with their descendants.” In short, the concept eventually became part of developing My-Story, and thereafter add the Podcast series named People Art & Culture. “I like shifting between media and vary my approach between teaching, painting, and structuring meaningful conversations with people. A golden triangle, and never a dull moment.”

The Art Institute of Chicago.
